The U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center is seeking innovative technologies to enhance power and energy resilience in supply-contested logistics environments. Areas of interest include power generation, agile power delivery systems, and deep power system analytics to maintain energy dominance. A total of up to $100,000 is available to make several awards. The RFI is being driving by a group called “Construction Engineering Research Laboratory.”
Problem
The Department of Defense faces challenges in ensuring reliable electric power for critical missions in supply-contested logistics environments. Current methods may lack the necessary speed and adaptability to enhance energy security effectively, underscoring the urgent need for innovative solutions.
Goals
The primary objective is to develop new solutions, or improve existing ones, to:
Analysis — Enhance capabilities in evaluating early-stage microgrid conceptual designs against DoD criteria. This could include tools, methods of techniques to evaluate improvements in predicted systems, or optimize microgrid designs for reliability and cost.
AI/ML — Apply machine learning and artificial intelligence to microgrid system modeling, and assess where those tools can improve physics-based modeling. This could include tools or methods for AI/ML microgrid modeling, subcomponent modeling, hybrid AL/ML and physics-based modeling, etc..
The Opportunity
The ERDC is accepting what it calls “pre-proposals” that introduce solutions related to the topics above. A total of up to $100,000 is available to make several awards.
Deadline
Applications close June 2 at 11 a.m. ET (6 p.m. in Israel).
Next Steps
There is solicitation form you can use to submit solutions, which requires a simple Google login. You will have to have a U.S. entity (with EIN) to reply.
There’s also a solicitation guide that might be helpful to review first, and you can ask questions using this form, if needed. The main page for the solicitation is here.
Difficulty Level
Relatively easy process, assuming you have a U.S. entity.
