Inside Army FUZE: Where Private Capital Meets the Warfighter
We sat down with Sam Spencer-Pittman, Private Capital Integrator at Army FUZE, to understand how the Army is restructuring its innovation pipeline and what it means for Israeli founders.
The short version: the Army has consolidated its fragmented innovation funding under one umbrella called Army FUZE, with roughly $740M in annual capital across four portfolios. It now sits inside a new construct called the Path to Innovative Technology (PIT), designed to move companies from early traction to procurement faster than before.
A few things Israeli founders should know:
The XTech pitch competition is the lowest-friction entry point into the Army’s acquisition system. It’s free to enter, you can win up to $250K, and more importantly, a win unlocks direct contracting pathways that bypass a lot of the usual bureaucracy.
Sam’s specific role is derisking investment for private capital by surfacing companies that already have Army traction. If you’re raising and you’ve had engagement with any Army program, that’s a signal worth sharing with his team.
The Joint Innovation Outpost, embedded with the 82nd Airborne and 101st Air Assault, is where foreign technology gets stress-tested with actual soldiers. Sam explicitly mentioned wanting to plug partner nation companies into this pipeline.
Start at pit.army.mil, and look out for the XTech live pitch event at the EMERGE conference in Miami around April 24.
