Whilx Technologies

Whilx is building an autonomous, real‑time tire‑pressure optimization system that actively controls the tire contact patch by inflating/deflating each tire individually based on load, road, speed, temperature and use‑case. By controlling pressure dynamically, we improve safety, energy efficiency, tire life and vehicle performance — without changing how the driver or fleet operates.

Tires are the only contact point between the vehicle and the road. Pressure determines the size and shape of the contact patch, which directly affects rolling resistance, braking distance, grip, wear and energy consumption. Today, pressure is mostly static and wrong most of the time. Vehicles operate under changing loads and conditions, but the tire pressure does not adapt.

Military Use Cases:
1. Off-Road Superiority: Adaptive pressure control typically delivers 10–30% higher usable traction and 10–15% less wheel slip in soft terrain versus fixed pressure, plus up to ~40–70% larger contact patch when needed. That directly translates into fewer stuck vehicles, better gradeability, and higher tow / haul capability on sand, mud, and snow.

2. Enhanced Maneuverability: Keeping each tire at its mission-optimal pressure can reduce braking distances by ~3–8% across typical surfaces and significantly improve steering response and stability, especially under heavy load and in low-friction conditions. Whilx can also temporarily bias pressures per wheel (e.g. in a hard turn) to improve lateral grip without driver intervention.

3. Load Optimization: Matching tire pressure to actual axle load in real time can avoid 2–10% fuel-consumption penalties seen with under-inflated tires and extend tire life by at least ~5% and up to
50%, while simultaneously keeping rolling resistance low on-road and traction high off-road.

4. Run-Flat Integration: Whilx can integrate with existing military run-flat technologies—or support a Whilx-
developed internal solution—to maintain mobility even after a tire blowout or ballistic damage.

5. Tire Blowouts Reduce heat-driven blowouts via precise pressure control. Tire pressure is linked to ~20% of
heavy-duty accidents;proper pressure can cut accidents by 4–20%.

6. Extended Lifespan: Protect tires and suspension from premature wear. Over 80% of all tire problems
experienced by US HDV fleets are a direct result of improper inflation.

7. Operational Security: Lower tire noise for stealthier tactical movement. Deviation from recommended pressure can raise rolling noise by 66%. Controlled pressure can shave ~1.5 dB off tire noise for a 2-bar drop.
